Night Noises

Night Noises
Down under my covers,
I feel this warmth
This safety
As the wind whooshes over me
Whoooosh whoooosh whoooosh
Whoooosh whoooosh whoooosh
The leaves rustle quietly,
Rustle rustle rustle
Rustle rustle rustle
The darkness surrounds me
There is silence
Accept for the whooshing of the wind
And the rustling of the leaves
The wind starts to get softer
Whoosh whoosh
Whoosh whoosh
The rustling of the leaves get’s quieter
Rustle rustle
Rustle rustle
Now I hear a soft pitter-patter
I feel my covers go damp
It’s little raindrops
Falling from the sky.
I hide deeper under my covers
And wait for the pitter-patter to go away
Pitter-patter
Pitter-patter
Rustle rustle
Rustle rustle
Whoosh whoosh
Whoosh whoosh
Finally it all starts to dim.
I wait.
The pitter-patters soon die out,
The soft rustling of the leaves fade
The whooshing wind goes away.
I peek out
All I see is darkness
I look up, and gasp
For there in the sky,
Are a million twinkling lights.
The air is clear, the sky is dark
But there, dotted in the sky like a ladybugs back
Are twinkling stars
And each one, is twinkling at me

Twinkling at me, in the silence of the night

Tamalpais

Tamalpais
Up and down
High and low
She wears no crown
The hills roll on, with an endless flow
The princess sleeps
Forever will she lie
Not a sound will she peep
As the days roll by
Her lay high
As the eastern peak
The birds fly in her sky
The biker’s bike on the steep
The green covers her body
Like a forest of trees
The night grows foggy
And her cities by the sea
Are light up the clouds
In their brilliant colours
She would be so proud
Of all the fathers and mothers
That reside in her wake
She will sleep endlessly
As the night takes
For she is the princess
For she is Tamalpais

Swings

Swings
I feel like I am flying
The feeling is exhilarating
Up and down
Back and forth
The laughter echoes through my mind
Children’s laughter
High and loud
Footsteps running by
“Watch out!” we cry
They duck
They laugh
Back and forth
Up and down
The laughter goes on
Echoing forever
As they fly

Sunset

The sky is alight and on fire
With orange
Red
Pink
Yellow
The colours are like a painting
So bight, so beautiful
The night is here, and yet
The sky is alight
So colourful and bright
That I cannot fathom the constellations
                                                 That I cannot see
The clouds cover us
Like a hovering blanket
Just before we are tucked in for the night
Most of the sky is grey and dark
It rolls over the hills smoothly,
Coveting them like a fresh coat of snow
But here,
Above us
The sky is on fire
The whole world is dark around us,
But in out little bubble,
The fiery light surrounds us
The sky is alight with a fiery blaze
The sky is alight
